How to tell if you need glasses

Good eyesight is one of the most valuable gifts from nature and we must do everything we can to protect it. Unfortunately, with time and due to other reasons, your eyesight can become weaker over time. Find out how to know if you need glasses without visiting a doctor.

1. Computer Reading
If you are looking at a text on a computer screen and have difficulty reading it from a normal distance, you may be experiencing the first symptoms of farsightedness. When working on a computer, always use the 20-20-20 rule, where you need to look 20 meters away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to preserve your eyesight.

2. Headaches
When you suffer from farsightedness or astigmatism, you need to know that both of these conditions cause your eyes to feel the strain and fatigue much of the time. If this condition persists, you may start experiencing headaches after a day of reading, working, and generally using your eyesight.

3. Double Vision
We are used to thinking of double vision as a symptom of drinking too much, but it can also indicate serious problems with your eyesight. If you often see double when there is only one object, the possible reasons for that are cataracts or eye muscle problems, both of which are a reason to see an eye doctor.

4. Night Vision
If you are noticing you are no longer seeing things as sharply and vividly at night as you used to, it is best to seek treatment as soon as possible. Difficulties with night vision are a telling early sign of cataracts, which can be treated successfully if diagnosed early.

5. Itchy Eyes
In case you cannot go for an hour without rubbing your eyes, there is a big possibility that you experience eye strain or eye fatigue and a pair of correctly prescribed glasses can help in this situation. Other reasons for frequent eye rubbing include conjunctivitis or allergies, which also need to be treated by a professional.

6. Slow Adjustment
If you walk into a dark room from a brightly lit area and it takes a while for your eyesight to adjust to new lighting conditions, it is very likely that the muscles in your eyes are weakening. This commonly happens due to older age, but it’s better to get an eye checkup.

7. Blurry Vision
Blurry vision is one of the most common eye symptoms that results in a patient wearing eyeglasses. The two most likely reasons for this problem are farsightedness and nearsightedness, but you can also see in a blur due to eye strain, dry eyes, or even simply being tired.

8. Halo Vision
Similar to blurry vision, halo vision doesn’t allow you to see objects perfectly clearly. However, halo vision is usually experienced around light fixtures and other bright objects. Besides the usual reasons for experiencing halo vision, it can also be an early sign of cataracts.
